Leipzig, 13 October 2008 - VITA 34 International AG (ISIN DE000A0BL849),
the parent company of the leading private umbilical cord blood bank in the
German-speaking countries VITA 34, posted record results for Q3 2008 both
in stored units of umbilical cord blood and revenues.

The number of stem cell preparations in the period under review increased
to 2,976 after a record of 2,972 in the previous year’s period. In the
first nine months of the current financial year storage increased from
7,968 to 8,282 units year-on-year. Revenues in Q3 reached a record value in
the 10-year company history at EUR 4.1 million, beating the previous year’s
period by EUR 29 k. At the end of the 9 month period aggregate revenues
reached EUR 11.3 million compared to EUR 11.5 million in the previous
year’s period.

As a result of the scheduled increase in expenditure in line with the new
marketing and sales strategy EBIT in Q3 was again negative as planned,
reaching EUR -0.6 million. In the previous year EBIT amounted to EUR 0.1
million. In the first nine months of the year EBIT reached EUR -1.7 million
compared to EUR 0.7 million in the prior year’s period. The group result in
Q3 was recorded at EUR -0.5 million compared to EUR -0.2 million in the
previous year’s period. In aggregate terms for the first nine months of
2008 the group result reached EUR -1.1 million after EUR 0.1 million in
2007.

Liquid assets as of 30 September 2008 totalled EUR 7.2 million. VITA 34
therefore sees itself well positioned to break-even in the full financial
year 2009 and is also confirming most recent forecasts issued for 2008.
